The legislative branch i.e., the law-making branch of the Russian
Federation is called the Federal Assembly. Federal Assembly is the Russian
Parliament. In simple words Parliament means a country’s law-making body. It is
a bicameral legislature consisting of Federation Council (Upper Chamber) and
State Duma (Lower Chamber). As per the Constitution of the Russian Federation,
The Federal Assembly is the representative and legislative body of the Russian
Federation.
The Federal Council includes two representatives from each constituent
entity or unit of the Russian Federation whereas the State Duma comprises of
450 deputies. The rules of forming the Council of the Federation (Upper House)
and the rules of electing deputies to the State Duma (Lower House) are
introduced by the federal laws.
